There is a new worm "Slapper" discovered.
. It infects computers working on Linux operating system. What is unique about this virus is that it’s writers used the same "spreading" algorithm that was used about 14 years ago - in 1988 in a, so called, Morris worm. It uses the hole in OpenSSL to take control over the server. This hole was discovered back in June and was fixed, however to this day there are still a lot of servers with this problem, so there is a concern that the worm might spread very soon. "Slapper" can be very damaging to the data. It also gives hackers the access to the information on the servers.

Australian hackers are now using planes.
. According to BBC, Australian hackers found a new way to hack into wireless networks, with the use of planes. All the companies, that use wireless local networks, are always under the security risk from these hackers. They usually hack from the buildings, bikes or cars that are located close to the target company. Hackers use a regular notebook with wireless net card and free operating system (which can be acquired from the internet) to intercept the waves coming from the local wireless networks and get access to the confidential information.

Yahoo alters the words in its free email service.
. Yahoo has a unique method of battling viruses. It substitutes potential elements of a malicious code to its synonyms. According to NTK such words as "mocha" (one of the coffee varieties) and "eval" were substituted to “espresso” and “review”. Eval and Mocha are the commands that are frequently used when writing viruses. As a result the words like evaluate and medieval were substituted to reviewuate and midireview, thus altering the meaning of many sentences. After recognizing this problem yahoo started adding underscore sign in front of potentially dangerous words, i.e. _eval and _mocha.
